Editor's review
This is a software tool that interprets soil testing data, particularly the Cone Penetration Test data.
NovoSPT is for analyzing Standard Penetration Test (SPT/DCPT) blow counts (N) and correlating N to soil engineering properties. All corrections factors including rod length, sampling method and borehole diameter, depth, correction for ground water table are incorporated in the analysis package. It also incorporates bearing Capacity, Wildcat & DCP penetrometer modules, classification of soil layers, liquefactions potential (CRR) and some 30 parameters that include Phi, Su, Vs, Es, Gmax, etc. These estimations are based on some 285 correlations provided in the package. The formulas and correlations used has been collected and cross checked from large number of references. The tool will co-relate the data with borehole depth. Depth normalized blow count (N160) is done versus depth. Bearing capacity and settlement analysis tools are available. The tool can be set to use either the metric or the imperial units. It is available in many languages including English, Spanish, Chinese (Simplified), Turkish and Farsi languages.
The interface is simple. People conversant with soil analysis techniques should be able to operate it quite easily. It contains a statistical module for comparison of different correlations. It is possible to work in project mode, save and load your SPT blow counts and soil layers under a project. The reporting is flexible and includes facility to create PDF format reports. Besides you could export data and charts in Excel and image formats. Importing SPT data and soil layers data via text files, gINT files, WinLog, LogPlot also is possible. iPhone and iPad apps are also available for this package. This is a very good product. If you are looking for a similar solution, this is a good candidate for a trial in your exact set up.
